New Campus

Sonoma Academy opens in the fall of 2008 at its permanent campus in southeast Santa Rosa at the end of Kawana Springs Road. The campus consists of a main classroom building (with 17 classrooms/labs), library and adjacent exhibition space, gymnasium (with locker rooms, training rooms and dance studio and two additional classrooms), student lounge, soccer/lacrosse playing fields, outdoor amphitheater, visual arts center, technology/digital arts center, Black Box Theater, administrative offices and conference room and central plaza.

The campus design incorporates predominately two-story classroom buildings and library around central pedestrian plazas and open spaces. The core of the campus contains larger buildings housing the gymnasium and theater functions. Design and placement of the buildings follows the site’s natural topography, allowing the larger buildings to be “benched” into the land mass and minimizing their apparent size from off-site views. The architectural theme reflects the County’s agrarian character.
